The Queen's Birthday Honours are awarded to people of outstanding merit. Anybody can be nominated for an honour, but only exceptional people receive one. Those honoured work in a wide range of fields including, but not limited to, sports, education, medical research, heritage, and local arts and sports projects. Honours lists are published twice a year at New Year and in mid-June on the date of the Queen's official birthday. The honours lists contain a wide variety of people from different backgrounds. Enterprise Promotion The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to promoting business enterprise skills and attitudes in other people – for example amongst young people or those in disadvantaged communities or in under-represented groups. These activities could be at a national, regional or local level.
In all cases awards illuminate areas of dedicated service which merit public recognition.
